How to run ads on Instagram in 2022

If you’re someone that runs Facebook Ads, manages multiple Facebook Pages, or multiple Instagram accounts, you need to be familiar with the Facebook Business Manager.

In this article, we’ll explain what Facebook Business Manager is, how to set it up, how to add new Pages, and more. Let’s jump in.

## What is Facebook Business Manager?

The Facebook Business Manager account is essentially the control center for all your activities on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.

From this control center, you can manage business tools and access to these assets. It includes the management of your different Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts, and product catalogs.

You can use Business Manager from both mobile and desktop. It makes it easy to:

-   View notifications;

-   Respond to messages;

-   Schedule posts, stories, and ads;

-   Monitor all activity at a glance;

-   Manage employee and 3rd party access;

- Access other Facebook tools such as Ads Manager, Commerce Manager, Business Settings, and more.

The Business Manager on Facebook is a must-have, especially if you’re juggling many accounts at a time. Not only that, but certain features aren’t available without it. Some examples include responding to comments on your ads and using Customer Lists.

Now that you know what the Facebook Business Manager is, keep reading to find out how to set it up.

## How to set up Facebook Business Manager

First, you’ll need to have a Facebook Page for your business. If you don’t have one, you can [create one here](https://www.facebook.com/pages/creation).

You have the choice to access Business Manager on your phone or your computer. If you prefer using your phone, you can download the Facebook Business Manager app on Android or on iOS. If you prefer doing it on your computer, follow this link: [business.facebook.com.](https://business.facebook.com)

Now, click on ‘Create an Account’ and follow the prompts. You’ll be asked to log into your Facebook account and provide information like your name, company name, business email address, and website.

Once you create your Facebook Business Manager, you can connect your Facebook Page and other assets to it.

## How to Add Facebook Business Pages

First, go to [Business settings](https://business.facebook.com/settings).

On the business settings page, you’ll see a menu section called ‘Accounts on the left-hand side.’ Next, click on ‘Pages.’ You can add an existing Page, request access to a Page, or create one from scratch:

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9/xs_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9/sm_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9/md_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9/lg_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9/xl_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9.webp 2631w" width="2631" height="828" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9/original_facebook_business_manager_1_9f461402a9.webp" alt="16.11.57.png"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The process for adding Ad Accounts, Instagram accounts, and other assets is the same. We recommend that, at this stage, you connect them all to your Facebook Business Manager. You can then easily manage all your marketing activities from one place.

## How to add someone to Facebook Business Manager

If you have employees or 3rd party contractors working on your accounts, you’ll need to give them access.

We recommend that you only give them as much access as is necessary. So if someone is only managing your Facebook Ads, for example, they don’t need full admin access. This way, there’s less of a chance that your account is put in jeopardy by either a mistake or bad actors.

Here’s how to add someone to Facebook Business Manager:

1.  Go to [Business settings](https://business.facebook.com/settings).

2. In the Users section, click ‘People.’

3.  Click ‘Add.’

8\. Click ‘Invite.’

If you already have your Business Manager, you’ll be able to log in and see it. If not, you can follow the steps outlined earlier in this article to create it.

## Is Business Manager free on Facebook?

Yes, Business Manager is completely free. Facebook created this tool to make it easier for you to manage all your accounts and assets. The only time that Facebook is not free is when you’re running Facebook advertisements. In that case, you will pay based on your usage.

## Facebook Business Manager tips

Here’re a few tips and best practices that we’ve learned over the years and from other experts:

- **Set up two-factor authentication.** Your accounts are vital for your business. Make sure that they’re as safe as possible. Especially considering that your credit card is connected to your account if you’re running ads.

- **Revoke access as soon as it’s no longer necessary.** If an employee leaves your company or a freelancer reaches the end of their contract, make sure to revoke their access from your accounts. 99% of the time, you’d be fine even if you didn’t, but you don’t allow anyone to cause any damage.

- **Start collecting data early.** If you’re just now setting up your accounts, one of the first things you might want to do is install a Facebook Pixel on your website. The Facebook Pixel essentially collects information about your website visitors. When you’re ready to advertise, you can use that information for either retargeting ads or for lookalike audiences.

- **Be cautious of who you add to your Business Manager.** If you get a request to manage your Facebook accounts, be sure that the request comes from the person you think it is from. If you don’t recognize the person, simply decline the request.

Facebook Business Manager: what is it and how to use it?

Advanced analytics, shopping tools, and targeted ad capabilities turn Instagram into an unmatched money-making engine for your business.

How to use an Instagram Business Account in 2024

In 2022, Instagram has become a powerful tool for business communication. Using features like Instagram direct messages can help you get more opportunities to connect with the audience and motivate them to do the target action.

Let’s look closely at the Instagram messenger and its features for your business.

## What is Instagram messenger

This robust social media platform has many ways of keeping people engaged. One of those features is Instagram Messenger (or direct message, DM for short). Private messaging on Instagram allows users not just to message and share photos and videos but to have an all-in-one experience while never leaving the app.

With Messenger for Instagram, your business can now give attention to each Instagram user.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd/xs_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd/sm_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd/md_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd/lg_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd/xl_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd.webp 2080w" width="2080" height="1168" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd/original_instagram_messenger_boost_business_0_e8c65052bd.webp" alt="Screen_02.png"><figcaption>Source: about.fb.com</figcaption></figure>

## ‍**Instagram messaging features**

Instagram’s Messenger is full of exciting ways to interact. You can share posts, gifs, pictures, videos, host a video chat and even have a group conversation. Leveraging your Instagram messenger is a fun and easy way to build rapport with your customers.

For example, suppose a customer is unsure how to use a product. In that case, you can send instructional pics or videos directly to the customer via Messenger. Then you can help users find which product is best for them.

Plus, with messaging on Instagram, you can send payment requests right from the DM.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985/xs_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985/sm_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985/md_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985/lg_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985/xl_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985.webp 2080w" width="2080" height="1168" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985/original_instagram_messenger_boost_business_1_ab3dfe7985.webp" alt="Screen_02.png"><figcaption>Source: about.fb.com</figcaption></figure>

Now businesses can answer questions, confirm purchase details, and request payment without leaving Instagram messenger. You can also process payments while in the app with Meta Pay.

All of this is possible by users sending a chat on Instagram to your inbox.

## How to set up Instagram direct messaging

Setting up an Instagram messenger chat is super easy. Because it comes integrated into the app, all you have to do is log in.

When you open your Instagram app, look at the top right of your feed above your stories. You should see a quotation bubble with a bolt in the middle. Clicking on that message icon will take you to your Messenger inbox where you can send a post or receive messages from users.

Now let’s explore how Instagram messenger can benefit your business. We’ll also show you how to use your messenger features best to keep customers coming back to your Instagram account.

## How businesses use Instagram messenger

That’s why skincare beauty brand Arts&Fact decided to let [chatbots](https://chatfuel.com/blog/low-cost-hypothesis-testing) do the hard work for them.

Mary, a Product Manager of Arts&Fact, shares the issues that the team had with responding to customer questions in DMs:

“We get lots of very similar questions: 'Is it better to buy serum or cream? ', 'What products are good to use in the winter? ', 'Are your products safe for my skin? '”

Mary and her team wanted to launch a promo that offered a skin consultation. It was important for the skincare line to keep customers on Instagram.

To do so, Mary designed a bot that would respond to important message requests, for example — when customers send an 'I want a consultation' comment. This is called an [Entry Point](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5571042-entry-points): a simple way to bring users into your bot’s flow.

Art&Found started sending an Instagram DM to their potential customers, which included a survey where potential customers could answer a few questions. Then they could schedule their appointment right in their inbox.

Mary concludes, “The setup process wasn’t as difficult as I thought.”

With a chatbot, Arts&Fact could secure 100 applicants within 2 hours and attract many more customers to their Instagram feed. Even better, 86 of those 100 leads turned into paying customers. That’s an 86% conversion rate.

Instagram chatbots are directly embedded into your Instagram account. They can save you time by doing almost everything that you already do manually.

Here are just some examples of what a chatbot can do:

-   Respond to comments;

-   Reply to DMs (even answer to FAQs);

-   Reply to story mentions;

-   Give out promo codes;

-   Boost Instagram ads;

-   Collect customer info and answers;

-   Recommend products or services;

-   Book appointments and calls;

-   Collect feedback;

-   Export data.

Generally, all chatbots follow the same process:

A user triggers the chatbot (Ex: By commenting) > The chatbot interacts with the user (Ex: Sends them a direct message) and goes through the flow that you set up.

A flow is a no-code interface that you use to build your Instagram chatbot.

It consists of straightforward ‘if/then’ rules. So if the customer does A, the chatbot does B. If the customer does X, the chatbot does Y.

## How to create a chatbot for Instagram

Let’s use Chatfuel to build an Instagram chatbot that automatically replies to Instagram DMs.

**Sign up for Chatfuel.** Go to [dashboard.chatfuel.com](https://dashboard.chatfuel.com) and click on ‘Sign up.’ Follow the on-page instructions.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c/xs_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c/sm_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c/md_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c/lg_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c/xl_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c.webp 703w" width="703" height="431" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c/original_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_1_d1bb84109c.webp" alt="image.png"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Create a new flow.** To do this, first, click on Automation on the left side. Next, create a new flow by clicking the button in the middle of the page or the plus sign at the top. Then, choose ‘Add Instagram flow.’

<figure><img width="2518" height="1392" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/how_chatbot_can_benefit_your_business_6_d73ac64f7a/how_chatbot_can_benefit_your_business_6_d73ac64f7a.gif" alt="IG bots 1.gif"><figcaption>Adding an Instagram flow in Chatfuel.</figcaption></figure>

**Choose an Entry Point.** Entry Points are simply the different ways that a user can start a conversation with a chatbot. In our case, we want our chatbot to reply to DMs. So the Entry Point we choose is Instagram Direct.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da/xs_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da/sm_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da/md_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da/lg_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da/xl_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da.webp 2074w" width="2074" height="823" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da/original_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_3_b26bd221da.webp" alt="Снимок экрана 2022-09-22 в 12.25.10.png"><figcaption>Chatfuel Entry Points for Instagram automation.</figcaption></figure>

**Build the flow.** Now, let’s tell the chatbot to reply to DMs and let customers know that we’ll get back to them within 24 hours.

First, you need to connect the Entry Point with another block. To keep things simple, we’ll just make the connection through the ‘All first messages’ section. But you can later set up FAQs and keywords as well.

<figure><img width="2200" height="1250" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/how_chatbot_can_benefit_your_business_8_b950eb3f07/how_chatbot_can_benefit_your_business_8_b950eb3f07.gif" alt="IG bots 2.gif"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Let’s add a content block with text and add a reply that your chatbot should send followers when they DM you.

And finally, activate the Entry Point to enable the chatbot. You’re done — this is how it should look like:

## Types of Instagram chatbots

From a technical standpoint, all Instagram chatbots are the same. But we can group them by their use cases and features.

The different types of chatbots are the following:

-   Customer support chatbots;

-   Feedback chatbots;

-   FAQ chatbots;

-   Keyword-based chatbots;

-   Lead generation chatbots;

-   Booking chatbots;

-   Product recommendation chatbots.

And there are many more, but the above list covers the most-used ones.

## Benefits from Instagram chatbots for business

Instagram chatbots are some of the highest ROI-generating tools out there. To better illustrate their benefits, let’s look at some case studies.

First, we’ve got [TheCultt](https://chatfuel.com/blog/resale-platform-story/), a fashion brand that used Chatfuel to give out promo codes to their followers. After three months, their results were the following:

-   +47% conversations;

-   170 sales out of 450 coupons given out;

-   <$2 cost per acquisition (CPA);

- Response time decreased by two hours.

Next, let’s look at [Art&Fact](https://chatfuel.com/blog/low-cost-hypothesis-testing/), a fashion brand that used Chatfuel to validate a new idea. Their goal was to use a chatbot to book online consultations automatically. They would then help customers pick the best skincare product for their needs. The brand’s results were the following:

-   100 consultations booked within two hours;

-   86/100 made a purchase right after the consultation;

- An additional 200 coupons were given out (for those that didn’t sign up in time).

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747/xs_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747/sm_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747/md_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747/lg_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747/xl_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747.webp 1200w" width="1200" height="360" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747/original_instagram_chatbots_tutorial_7_5b9f70e747.webp" alt="Frame 4.png"><figcaption>The Art'Fact products.</figcaption></figure>

So, to summarize, some benefits of Instagram chatbots are faster response times, lower CPA, higher conversion rates, and lower labor costs (by automating otherwise manual tasks).
