Each Facebook user who comments on your Facebook Business Page posts is a potential customer. But manual replying to each person doesn’t work as an effective sales funnel for many reasons. If interested users don’t get a response about a product on time, they can leave the website and never come back. It might disappoint both sides: unhappy clients and unsuccessful businesses with low sales. But there’s a solution.

Businesses can hire more staff to manage comments or post less on social media. However, it will not be as effective as automation is. In this article, we will tell how to use automation to respond to comments, how it can benefit your business, and show you how to set up the whole process in Chatfuel.

## Types of users' comments

When your customers visit your Facebook Page, they might leave various comments, depending on what they need. Here are the main types of user comments:

- **FAQs.** What’s your location? How to book a table? Are your products cruelty-free? Can I get a refund?

- **Feedback.** Thanks for the t-shirt, it fits me perfectly! However, I didn’t like the book I bought from your store!

- **Contests and giveaways**. If you run a promo, users who want to participate will comment on the promo post.

- **Emoji and others.** Out-of-topic, 'I’m the first' type of comments, words in other languages.

All the comments are equally crucial for user support and communication with customers. If you respond to your clients quickly and answer their questions on time, most likely, your customers will feel welcomed and valued. And most likely, they will make a purchase.

## How automated responses to comments can benefit your business

With automation, you can save lots of resources. You and your team can set up the comment response process the way you prefer. For example, have your bot answer users' FAQs and send them your menu or catalog. Or, thank your customers for positive feedback and send them a promo code. If a user sends a complaint, your bot can redirect them to a live chat, where your team can find out more and find a solution.

Our customers from different industries shared some metrics to show how the Comments Autoreply feature benefited their business. For example, a baby-furniture brand DECEN® got its bot to [**handle 98% of customer inquiries**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/decen-baby-brand-generates-80-of-total-sales-with-messenger-bot). In addition, a meal-kit company HelloFresh [**decreased response time by 76%**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/hellofresh-reduces-support-wait-times-with-chatfuel-messenger-bot) and got 47% more messages on Messenger overall. And there are more happy customers — you can check their cases [here](https://chatfuel.com/blog/category/use-cases).

## Setting up Facebook comments autoreply

Comments Autoreply is a feature in Chatfuel. When users comment on your post, they open a conversation with your bot. You can have your chatbot privately message all commenters or only those who used a specific keyword in their comment. Also, you can apply this rule to all posts or only a particular one. To set it up, go to [Dashboard](https://dashboard.chatfuel.com/sign-in?utm_medium=chatfuel&utm_source=blog&utm_campaign=how-to-turn-facebook-post-commenters-into-customers) and open **Automation** → **Flows**.

In [flows](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/4237017-how-to-build-a-flow), this feature takes the form of an entry point. An entry point is a channel through which you can bring new users to your Facebook chatbot.

### With the Comments Autoreply, you can:

-   Respond to comments (including posts, photos, albums, and videos);

-   Send a public reply to the user’s comment and a private reply in Messenger;

-   Set a delay for the public, private responses, or both;

-   Add multiple public reply options and randomly set your bot to choose one each time;

- Set up a reply and keyword triggers for existing bot users (different from the reply and triggers for new users.)

With these options, you can set AI to answer FAQs, manage contests and giveaways or respond to reviews on your Facebook Page. We recommend setting up simple automation first and adding details later. That way, you can see what’s missing and what to add to make your bot more successful.

Before launching, make sure your bot is [connected to your Business Page](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/3917632-connecting-your-facebook-or-instagram) and that you set up to view replies to posts on that Page.

Also, you’ll get to select and customize:

1. **A Facebook post.** Do you want your bot to reply to comments on every post or a specific one?

2. **Rules.** Do you want your chatbot to reply to every comment on that piece of content or only those containing specific keywords? You’ll have the option to add [keyword groups](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/828883-keywords) for your bot’s replies as rules. You can have different answers for each keyword group if you have multiple or have them all lead to the same response. Or, you can leave the keyword spaces empty to have your Messenger bot reply apply to all comments.

3. **Response.** Here you’ll decide what your chatbot says in response to user comments. It can be a public reply in comments, a private reply via Messenger, or both.

4. **Time.** You can set a time delay if desired or set up separate replies for existing users of your bot versus new users.

## Rules

### Link to posts published on your Page only

This feature won’t work for posts created just for an ad and only existed in Ads Manager *(dark posts)*. You can acquire users for your bot from comments on a boosted post, but only if it was initially published directly to your Page.

### Only top-level comments will trigger the response, not replies

And it’ll only work on the original post, not shared versions of it. Also, note that your bot will never message the same user more than once, no matter how many comments they may have left on that post.

### Stickers and images cannot be tracked

For these acquired users to become bot subscribers, the first interaction must include actual text from both sides. Therefore, your bot’s first message should contain text (same for the user’s first reply). Stickers and images don’t count for this, so use that first message to encourage a text response from users.

### No engagement bait

Broad or irrelevant questions like *'Do you like dogs or cats? '* can bring you more comments. But it’s not worth it in the long run. Facebook will detect it as an [engagement bait](https://www.facebook.com/help/publisher/259911614709806) and punish this with lower reach.

## Tips

### For customer’s feedback and FAQs

Before setting up Comments Autoreply entry point to track your client’s feedback, [enable users to leave reviews](https://www.facebook.com/help/548274415377576?helpref=search&sr=4&query=business%20reviews&search_session_id=58c53c3ea92dd846418ae5fadd8fff10) on your Facebook Page:

1.  **Inbox** → **Automated responses**;

2.  Toggle on one or both of the options under **Respond to feedback**;

3. After this, set up two autoreply rules: one for positive reviews and one for negative reviews.

Use the first rule to thank users for their feedback, offer a discount, [recommend products](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfmQvqtJN9Q&t=2s), or answer their FAQs. With the second one, you can offer a freebie or discount to users to make up for their experience. You can also use the [Live Chat plugin](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat) to redirect them to a human agent to resolve the issue and learn what you can do to improve.

### For contests and giveaways

First, create a Facebook post that tells users what to comment to enter. Then set up the Comments Autoreply feature, and you’re ready to go! Your bot will engage with all participants and can reward the winners with a promo code. That way, your brand can get more leads or sales. Or both!

We recommend avoiding **Send** and **Get message** buttons in your posts. They can confuse users by adding extra call-to-action. So, they may not engage at all.

## Start profiting from the engagement on your Facebook Page

If you’re not guiding post-commenters into your sales funnel via chatbot, you could be missing out on sales. So instead, turn the commenters into customers with the Chatfuel Comments Autoreply feature and grow your profit. In this tutorial, I will explain how to set up Facebook comments autoreply with your own chatbot and why your business need this feature

How to turn Facebook comments into customers with automation

According to the Great Resignation research, 65% of global hiring organizations have lost their preferred candidate because the recruitment process was too long. The main reason is pretty simple: HR managers are very busy. HR professionals spend a lot of time on:

- interviewing,

- sorting out candidate applications,

- responding to their repetitive questions,

- finding slots for interviews and rescheduling,

- sending follow-up messages.

The good news is that managers can automate some of the routine processes and focus on interviewing and preparing offers for the most suitable candidates. For example, a Facebook Messenger automation can accept and sort applications and schedule interviews. You can even integrate your bot with Facebook Jobs to automatically follow up with applicants.

In this article, we’ll look at recruitment Messenger automation, share some tips on building one yourself and show some inspiring metrics from our clients.

## Integrating with Facebook Jobs

Facebook has almost 2.5 billion monthly active users. Odds are your next great employee already spends time on the platform, so it makes sense to search for them there via [Facebook Jobs](https://www.facebook.com/business/pages/post-job). It lets you post jobs on your Business Bage, receives and review applications, and contact prospects via Messenger. Or, your Messenger automation can do it for you.

You can set up different automated responses to candidates. For example, confirm their application has been received or tell them about the following interview. Here’s how to set it up:

1. **Turn on the automated response.** Go to your Facebook Business Page → Messenger inbox → Automated Responses, then select Messenger. A section called *Communicate about your jobs* will appear there, and you’ll see the option to turn on an application received.

2. **Write a message your bot will send.** Keep it brief but helpful and informative. Include details about timelines or next steps, so the candidate knows what to expect.

3. **Add a button** (optional). You can include a button to go along with the message. It can link to a URL, like a page on your website where they can learn more about your company. A button can also redirect to a block in your bot, for example, FAQs or a quiz about the company.

## How chatbots streamline recruitment process

Facebook Messenger chatbots can simplify the recruitment process for both employees and job seekers.

Here’s what chatbots can do:

### Collect information from candidates

With Chatfuel’s Save User Input plugin, your chatbot can accept contact details, CVs, and other materials from applicants. You can store this data as user attributes in Chatfuel’s People tab for simple searching and sorting. Also, you can export this data to a Google Sheet for analysis or candidate ranking.

### Ask screening questions

Your bot can ask applicants any number of qualifying questions related to experience, skills, or location. You can even have your bot email an applicant’s information to an HR manager if they pass all the qualifying questions. Then, the manager can follow up with the most suitable candidates personally.

### Answer FAQs 24/7

HR managers no longer have to spend time answering common questions. Automation is excellent at responding to FAQs about the job or hiring process. Plus, bots are available 24/7.

### Schedule interviews

In Chatfuel, you can use Zapier templates to integrate your calendar or scheduling system with your bot. It allows users to sign up for an interview, reschedule or cancel it right in your bot. All changes will reflect on your calendar. You can also set up automated reminders, and your bot will notify users when their turn is coming up.

Finally, a recruitment chatbot also creates a convenient experience for the applicants by answering their questions and providing an engaging and instant form of communication. So no matter how big or small your business or department, automation can help you stand out from other companies competing for the same talent.

## Tips for optimizing your recruitment chatbot

Follow these best practices to maximize the efficiency of your HR bot:

- **Get creative.** [Give it a name](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-names) and persona and make it friendly. Include GIFs and emojis if appropriate for a more engaging and welcoming experience.

- **Create different conversational flows for different applicants.** Maybe entry-level applicants have an extra task to do before making it to the interview process. Or perhaps senior-level applicants get a direct invitation interview sooner.

- **Include FAQs.** Collect the most common questions from applicants and equip your bot with answers to those. Include as much helpful information as possible, like the office address, notes on team culture, and details about perks and benefits.

- **Be ready to step in.** You may want to have time window each day when a human HR agent is available. With the [Live Chat plugin](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat), an agent can jump in to answer complex or personalized questions if the bot ever gets stuck.

- **Connect your bot to Facebook ads.** If you’re using Facebook ads to promote your job openings, connect your bot to engage immediately and even qualify anyone who clicks on one. That way, you can get more qualified candidates.

Chatbots are great for recruitment but can be used once employees are hired. A Messenger bot can help with onboarding, training, and employee retention. Set yours up with FAQs about the employee handbook, for example. Or, equip it to send company-wide alerts and reminders about things like holidays and meetings.

## Chatfuel bot builders share their experience on HR bots

Let’s look at a particular example of an HR chatbot in action. “We set it up for recruiters, so they can save time and streamline to the top leads faster, ” says the Social Media Advertising Manager of the marketing agency that built the bot. It’s geared towards those looking for truck driving jobs in the US. It answers FAQs about openings and the application process and can search for available positions instantly.

The agency connected the bot to a Facebook ad campaign, and the results were explosive. It helped thousands of candidates find jobs. It also saved the company hundreds of hours in the recruitment process. Check out the numbers for the period from January 1st to March 25th:

-   1,559 FAQs answered;

-   1,254 started an application after getting an answer to their FAQ;

- 81% conversion rate from FAQ to started application.

This agency built an incredibly successful bot for its client. With the automated routine messaging, the team saved about 240 hours and spent this time interviewing the most successful candidates so that people got jobs much faster.

Messenger Chatbot for Recruiting & HR

## The brand

[HelloFresh](https://www.hellofresh.com) is a creative solution for those tired of eating out at restaurants but don’t have the time or know-how to plan and cook meals from scratch. This subscription-box service delivers fresh ingredients to your door and instructions to transform them into delicious meals. HelloFresh helps people enjoy healthy, home-cooked food without the hassle of meal planning and grocery shopping.

## The problem

HelloFresh the US faced two main problems:

1. They needed at least one customer-service agent to monitor incoming Facebook messages round the clock, just to keep up.**‍**
2. **Slow response times.** It took their support team between six and twelve hours to get through all the necessary steps to resolve a customer issue from one of these messages.

Their customer-care team was overworked and could never get ahead. In addition, customers themselves were getting frustrated with the long wait times.

## The solution

In 2017 HelloFresh team started exploring chatbots to improve customer support and engagement. And so, the idea for Freddy the Messenger bot was born. “Within just a few days, I created Freddy out the [customer service bot](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-for-customer-service) framework,” explains Alex Curtis, Senior Associate on the HelloFresh Social Media Team.

Here’s what the HelloFresh team taught bot Freddy to do:

- **Reply to users.** For Black Friday 2017 and 2018, the team created Facebook promo posts with riddles and questions. Freddy would [automatically respond via Messenger](https://youtu.be/j_s1FoC6HTM) to all users who gave a correct answer and send them a promo code. In 2018, this campaign had **a 64% conversion rate** — meaning that over half of users who received the code used it to place an order!
- **Recommend music.** HelloFresh calls it Get Grooving: when the bot suggests a playlist to match the meal kit the user will be cooking that evening.
- **Share seasonal tips** and blog content around the holidays. They call it their Holiday Hotline, and it’s yet another way to create a unique, helpful experience for prospects and customers.

## The recipe

Freddy has been a hit with HelloFresh prospects and customers — and, their support team has benefited in a big way. To do it, they used these Chatfuel features:

- **Comments Autoreply.** Freddy automatically messaged people who commented on HelloFresh’s page posts. Once the user responds to Freddy’s first message, they become a reachable bot user. This feature was key in several of HelloFresh’s Facebook campaigns.
- **Quick Replies.** That way, users can tap suggested topics instead of having to type. Quick Replies make for a seamless user experience and help keep the conversation on track.
- **Gallery cards**. HelloFresh incorporated gallery cards in their bot, using plenty of bright, colorful graphics to catch a user’s eye.

## The results

In 2018, HelloFresh’s average response time to customer inquiries was five hours. In 2019, it dropped dramatically to one hour and 11 minutes. That’s a **76% decrease** in response times, even though they got **47% more** messages on Messenger overall.

“With our bot, a customer conversation that used to take six to 12 hours now takes just a few minutes to address and sometimes to resolve entirely,” says Curtis. The support team gets more time to deal with complex inquiries instead of answering the same routine ones repeatedly.

Customer satisfaction has increased with the quicker service, and Freddy is creating a positive impression for users in other ways, too. Chatting with the bot is instant, interactive, fun, and helpful, and it makes HelloFresh stand out from the competition.

“Chatfuel streamlined how we handle customer-service inquiries on social media. It lets us provide an incredible experience for our fans that you don’t get anywhere else in the industry. On top of all that, it was easy enough for us to learn without extensive training or experience.”, Curtis shares.

## The brand

Festival Open Air Berg-Birwinken is an outdoor rock-music festival in Switzerland. It features local bands, and has been happening every summer for the last six years. Their marketing team of five is responsible for selling enough tickets each year to cover costs and turn a profit.

## The problem

In past years, the festival’s marketing strategy focused on offline marketing to sell tickets—like putting up posters and distributing flyers in towns near the venue. But this method was expensive, time consuming, and had low ROI.

So for the 2018 festival, its co-organizer Manuel Krapf decided to set more aggressive goals and find a new way to reach them. He wanted to:

1. increase festival attendance

2. lower marketing costs and improve ROI

3. make use of their small but loyal fan base of attendees who go every year.

## The solution

Manuel and his team knew they had to try something new to turn things around for the festival. Their first order of business was to take their festival marketing plan online.

After a few unsuccessful email, YouTube, and Facebook ad campaigns, they started looking into chatbots. Manuel first became interested in chatbots because “You can segment people, and get more engagement than via email. It’s a more fun way to do things, and it’s cheap to get people to your bot, especially if you’re working with Facebook ads.”

Manuel and his team reached out to bot expert Balint Pataki, from [Chatbot Tutorial](#), for advice. Balint helped them build a bot that functioned both as a referral system and a ticketing system for the music festival. Here’s how it worked:

1. Facebook video ads would take new users right to the bot.

2. Once there, they’d be offered a free, one-day ticket to the festival.

3. Then, the bot would ask if they wanted to give three free tickets to friends to earn themselves a free, four-day pass. (If not, the user was still offered the four-day ticket for a discounted price.)

4. The bot kept track of the referrals so it would know when to award the extra free tickets, and to whom. It sent them via SMS message.

5. To get into the festival, attendees showed the tickets on their smartphones.

## The recipe

Balint and the festival’s marketing team used the following Chatfuel features to create their successful bot:

- [**Click-to-Messenger ads**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/create-click-to-messenger-ads-to-drive-traffic-to-your-bot). Engaging, video-based ads enticed users into clicking, which directed them straight to the festival’s Messenger bot.

- [**Lookalike audiences**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575719-how-to-create-facebook-and-instagram-ads). After gathering full lead information from users who interacted with their bot, the festival’s marketing team used it for future retargeting with Facebook Lookalike audiences. That way, their ads could reach new prospects similar to the customers who had already bought tickets.

- [**Zapier integration**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/2742834-zapier-integration). The team used Zapier to integrate Google Sheets with their bot, so they could track users and referrals. Once a user subscribed, their information was sent via Zapier to a sheet. A second sheet tracked their referral IDs, so users were notified via bot as soon as one of their referrals confirmed their ticket.

- [**Reengage messages**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/955973-re-engage-tab). They also used Reengage messages to notify users when the friends they referred signed up for a ticket. The message would send automatically once the friend confirmed their ticket, and included the block name or ID so the original user knew which friend claimed a ticket.

- **User attributes.** With this feature, the bot could automatically create festival entry tickets customized with the person’s name, ticket ID, and the dates for which their pass was valid.

## The results

The video campaign to direct users to the festival’s chatbot went viral, and they gained almost 3,000 new subscribers. They **grew the total number of attendees by 25%** by utilizing the power of their existing, loyal user base, as planned.

Their **cost per lead dropped to $0.44 compared to $3-4 in previous years—a 7x reduction**. The much-lower CPL plus the larger turnout meant revenue of around $35 per attendee, with only $1.60 in costs for each.

The music-festival bot also saved the marketing team lots of time. They didn’t have to plaster nearby towns with posters, nor did they have to print, package, and mail individual tickets to anyone who bought one.

Plus, the boost in attendees meant a better atmosphere for everyone. According to Manuel, the line to get in was long, and the parking lots and campsites were full and buzzing with activity and excitement. Thanks to their ticketing and referral chatbot, the Festival Open Air Berg-Birwinken team was able to provide a better experience for their festival-goers than ever before.

## The brand

Argomall is one of the [top ecommerce sites](https://chatfuel.com/blog/9-reasons-your-ecommerce-business-needs-a-chatbot) in the Philippines, selling authentic consumer electronics. The company has a catalog of 3,000 products, ranging from TVs and smartphones to tablets and laptops. They also have a broad customer base, which is “anybody in the Philippines who is willing to buy a smartphone or other devices online, ” says Argomall’s Chief Argonaut, Karel Holub.

## The problem

In 2017, the Argomall team began to realize that people wanted more information about their brand and products—and they were requesting it through Facebook more than any other platform or channel. The team knew they needed a way to interact with these customers there in real time and at scale.

“Since Argomall values personalized convenience, ” Holub explains, “our prime interest was not to replace our customer service team, but to offer temporary yet immediate assistance to customers.” He also wanted to take advantage of all the traffic the Argomall Facebook page was now receiving, and make it easier and more enticing for those visitors to convert into customers.

## The solution

The Argomall team had been toying with the idea of chatbots for a while. Once they started noticing the increased activity on their Facebook page, they knew it was the perfect time to actually create one. [The bot they designed](http://m.me/argomall) has three main functions:

1. **Answer FAQs.** The first aim of the chatbot for their retail store, according to the team, was to “[answer generic questions](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-for-customer-service) about things like product availability, pricing, etc., so as to allow our customer service representatives to spend their time on more complex issues instead.”

2. **Guide users through the shopping process.** The second purpose of the bot is “to guide our customers throughout their online shopping journey at Argomall.” At the start, the chatbot greets the user with a gallery of new and popular items and offers. It can also provide information on any product or type of product a prospect may ask about. As a result, the user receives a customized shopping experience they wouldn’t get if they were simply browsing the Argomall website on their own.

3. **Allow users to complete a purchase within the Messenger app.** Finally, the chatbot streamlines the sales process by letting users place an order without leaving Messenger. It’s a crucial feature for this online electronics store based in in the Philippines, because Facebook is free to use, whereas surfing an ecommerce storefront there is not. Argomall uses a COD (cash on delivery) system, so the bot doesn’t need to accept payments. It simply collects the user’s order and shipping information and provides a delivery estimate and an invoice. If the customer has any questions or issues along the way, they always have the option to [request to speak with a live agent](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat).

## The recipe

The following Chatfuel features and integrations were key to Argomall’s success with their Facebook chatbot:

### Google Site Search plugin

This plugin is activated by user input, which can be as general as *I would like to buy a computer*, or as specific as *Dell XPS 15 laptop*. The bot searches the keyword (s) on the Argomall website, and returns the results to the user instantly in Messenger. This feature makes the product discovery process even easier for prospects. It allows them to get suggestions for an item in a particular category, or specs and availability for a specific item in seconds—all without leaving the app.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac/xs_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac/sm_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac/md_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac/lg_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac/xl_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac.webp 1260w" width="1260" height="810" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac/original_ecommerce_retailer_boosts_sales_with_messenger_bot_1_5eb1cd5fac.webp" alt=""><figcaption>The Argomall bot uses the Google Site Search feature to immediately deliver product suggestions or information to users in Messenger.</figcaption></figure>

### Save User Input plugin

This plugin allows the Argomall bot to capture user data, such as a buyer’s shipping address. When a user shares their address, the bot will automatically save it as a user attribute. Then, when the company is ready to fulfill and send out the order, the address will be available in Chatfuel’s [People tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575151-people-tab). It’s a smooth and streamlined way to make user input in the chatbot accessible later.

### Live Chat plugin

The [**Live Chat plugin**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat) allows Argomall’s human support agents to interact with users one on one at any time, without worrying about the bot interrupting their conversation. Retailer Boosts Messenger Sales 10% with a Bot

You’ve created an engaging Facebook ad for your business, complete with great visuals, intriguing copy, and precise targeting. The question is: Where will prospects go once they engage with it? The next step is crucial in actually achieving conversions and earning revenue for your brand.

Landing pages are the traditional option, and they still have their place. However, the Facebook Messenger chatbot has emerged as a compelling new alternative for a variety of industries and use cases. To decide between landing page vs. chatbot for your business, consider the features and benefits of each.

## What is a landing page?

A landing page is a web page that a user is directed to, or “lands” on, after clicking on a Facebook ad. It commonly includes more details about the product or service mentioned in the ad, and is designed to get the user to take a specific action—like opting in or making a purchase.

Landing pages typically include a form where the user can enter their information. They’re sometimes incentivized to fill out the form with a free download, discount, or other type of lead magnet. If they do so, they’ll be counted as a conversion. Then, they’ll either receive information or a digital product in their email, will be shipped a product, or will be contacted by the business later.

## The advantages of landing pages for Facebook ads

When a user clicks on a Facebook ad, a landing page in a separate window is where they’re traditionally sent. While landing pages are no longer the only option, they can be effective when used correctly. A few of their benefits include:

- **Landing pages are extremely customizable.** A new landing page is a blank slate. It can include as much information as you like in any arrangement or format, so a user can learn everything they need to know about your offer.

- **Landing pages tend to convert qualified traffic.** A landing-page form with several fields to fill in can be intimidating to a user. In general, the more information you ask for, the fewer submissions you’ll receive overall. However, the users you *do* convert are likely to be warm leads more valuable to your business, as a longer form will tend to weed out unqualified traffic.

- **Landing pages can help with SEO.** It depends on the content of your landing page, but some can help with your website’s search-engine rankings. If the page you designed includes long-form, useful content on a certain topic, you may be able to gain some SEO benefits from it.

## What is a Facebook Messenger bot?

A bot is a piece of software that can interact with customers or prospects in a conversational way via a chat platform like Facebook Messenger. You can equip your chatbot to answer specific questions or complete certain actions based on what users ask of them. They act as friendly virtual assistants that provide a guided, engaging experience. They’re easy and pleasant to interact with because they offer help and information in a humanlike way: in bite-sized pieces, message by message.

<figure><img width="378" height="576" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/chatbots_vs_landing_pages_2_a6d57a63b5/chatbots_vs_landing_pages_2_a6d57a63b5.gif" alt="chatbot messenger"><figcaption>Interacting with a bot is similar to a Messenger conversation with a human.</figcaption></figure>

You can connect a Facebook ad to a chatbot. That way, when prospects click on your ad, they can simply be redirected to your bot in Messenger instead of to a landing page. From there, the bot can do everything from answering FAQs and making product recommendations to accepting sale payments or event sign-ups — and the user won’t have to leave the Messenger app.

Plus, it’s all done in an instant, conversational style that’s proven to promote high engagement and retention rates. Finally, if the bot runs into an issue or question that it doesn’t know how to resolve, it can easily [**notify a human on your team to take over**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat/).

## The advantages of Messenger bots for Facebook ads

Messenger bots are a compelling answer to the question of how to convert more users who click on your ads. Some key benefits of using a Messenger bot as a Facebook-ads destination include:

- **Bots are instant.** In today’s fast-moving digital landscape, people expect answers and assistance almost instantly. Bots can provide this speed of service. As soon as a user engages with a [**click-to-Messenger ad**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/create-click-to-messenger-ads-to-drive-traffic-to-your-bot/), they’re directed to the bot and a conversation begins immediately. That way, there’s no lull or waiting period where the prospect can lose interest.

- **Bots can provide a personalized experience.** Of course, sending all prospects from an ad to the same, single landing page doesn’t make for a very customized experience. Bots, however, can be set up to **greet the prospect by name**, and ask questions to get to know their needs or tastes. That way, the bot can provide more tailored information, or show products and offers that relate to the user specifically.

- **Bots exist in a familiar, simple interface.** The Messenger interface where these bots exist always offers the same, easy-to-navigate experience—one which most users are already familiar with. Plus, Messenger is exceedingly mobile friendly. You’ll never have to worry about slow load times or jumbled layouts when your bot is accessed from a smartphone. Finally, a Messenger bot means fewer creative factors to worry about. Since you don’t have to choose fonts, layout, and colors, you can put all your focus on creating quality content.

- **Bots gather user data easily.** First, bots automatically have access to basic information from a subscriber’s Facebook profile. For any additional details your business needs, the bot can gather it in an engaging way using questions sent one by one. This method generally offers less friction in the conversion process—and less of a chance for user overwhelm than if you asked them to enter details into a form themselves.

- **Bots are innovative tools.** Chatbots are still relatively new on the scene of Facebook marketing. The incorrect perception that they can only be built from scratch, with code, is unfortunately widespread, and prevents many businesses from trying them out. So by offering a pleasant, easy interaction with your prospects through a bot, you’ll stand out as an innovative company dedicated to providing the best customer experience possible.

## How to choose between a landing page and a Messenger bot

When it comes to selecting a destination for your Facebook ads, both landing pages and bots can produce impressive results when used correctly. Here are a few ideas to help you decide which is right for your brand.

**Landing pages** work well for businesses that sell complex or especially technical products and services. In cases like these, it’s your job to educate the visitor about the problem and the details of your solution before they take an action like booking a demo or making a more expensive purchase. Landing pages allow you to present a large amount of information in a clear and coherent way, since you can control all elements of the design and layout.

**Chatbots** work well for any business case where the information the prospect needs to know before opting in or signing up can be clearly conveyed in a succinct, conversational style. For a newsletter opt-in, event registration, or a giveaway, for example, sending a user to a bot rather than a static landing page will make the transaction simpler and much quicker. Whereas there may be a delay between when a user fills out a landing-page form and when the business reaches out to them, a bot can provide service instantly. Plus, thanks to buttons and quick replies, gathering information is easy—the user may not even need to type at all. Finally, once the user responds to the bot, they’re considered a subscriber. This means your business can message them again [**within a 24-hour window**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5627483-types-of-reengage-messages#h_b8201a2718), or at any time in the future using [**sponsored messages**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQsmvmRCjXw).

In the end, it’s up to you to carefully consider your unique use case and choose the right Facebook ads destination for your brand. As with most business tools, experimentation is crucial to discovering which will work best for your specific situation. That’s why it’s generally a good idea to split test your next campaign to see which ads destination performs better. You can use Chatfuel’s A/B testing plugin for this. Simply divide the flow so that A leads customers to a landing page, and B leads them to a flow within a chatbot. Then, you can focus on whichever method produced the most conversions.

Or, it could be that both solutions have a place in your Facebook ads strategy, depending on the campaign and the stage. For example, you could use a landing page to explain the benefits of and sell a certain product.

Chatbots vs Landing Pages for Facebook Ads

As a chatbot automation platform trusted by 7m+ businesses, we know how to keep customers engaged. But unfortunately, complex automation puzzles them, and elaborate algorithms annoy them. As a result, they tend to leave unless they feel a connection. So we’ve asked three Chatfuel bot builders to share some basic rules to win your shoppers’ attention and take them further down the funnel.

To implement these tips in your bot-building process, open your Chatfuel account or [create a new one](https://dashboard.chatfuel.com). It’s quick and free.

## Personalize your bot

> “It’s impossible to operate without a human touch at times. With automation, your business can set up rules to funnel high-priority conversations to the live agent. For instance, if your customer has a specific question or needs some thorough guidance.” — says Nick, the Head of Product.

Create a warm atmosphere for users. Here’s how you can make your conversation friendly:

- Address to users by name. Having the first name personalization increases your click-through rate from 5.8% to 7%. Chatfuel allows you to do that via [User Attributes](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5573554-attributes).

- Speak in customers' language. [Set the user’s language](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/2931038-multiple-languages) automatically based on their \[locale\] attribute or let them pick it on their own with buttons or quick replies.

- Be cool. If that corresponds to your brand voice, break the ice with emojis, gifs, and images.

Remember to monitor your bot performance. Сheck your ideas from time to time and improve your communication to know your customers better. With [Analyze Tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/838404-tracking-performance), you’ll be able to understand their needs, questions, and concerns to provide personalized answers.

## Keep it simple for users

The users should understand what they need to do from the start. Otherwise, [they’ll leave](https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s41233-020-00033-2), and you won’t be able to engage them in your activities. According to Quality and User Experience journal 2020, customers had to adapt their way of expressing themselves to be understood by the chatbot or stop using it.

> “Contemplate on the first and the last steps. Think of what a user might ponder about in this journey and give them coherent answers. Then, invent the algorithm the user should follow and lay out all the tools they would require.” — Katie, the Content Team Lead, recommends

- Provide quick replies, buttons, galleries, and Save User Input plugins.

- Add a button to redirect users to your website, the bot’s main menu, or FAQs at your discretion.

- Give instructions for newbies. The first time your bot offers options like buttons or quick replies, instruct them on how to choose one. Add a message for a user that they can select one of the pre-filled responses instead of typing in. Something simple like “Tap one of the buttons below”.

- Create a menu that users can always come back to. For example, if your bot opens with a helpful main menu, make sure you have created an [AI rule](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/828883-keywords) that will allow this. Or, set up a Persistent Menu at the bottom of the Messenger chat window. It has shortcuts to different parts of your bot.

## Turn monologues into interactions

> “If you’re chatting with someone who carries on the conversation by rambling on and on, you don’t feel heard or valued. If your chatbot drones on like this, users might feel uninvolved, unimportant, and will likely leave.” — shares Nat, the Product Marketing Manager

The conversation should feel more like two friends texting each other rather than a robot returning a query. Otherwise, a chatbot conversation loses its power and becomes nothing more than boring marketing material. For conversational marketing to work, there must be a proper conversation.

- Avoid large texts that require no input from the user. Your Messenger chatbot should encourage frequent user participation. Use Buttons and Quick Replies to promote user interaction and show that you value their information in this dialogue. The point is to give users an easy way to stay engaged. Save bigger blocks of text for your blog or landing page.

- Stick to the point. Texts in your bot should be concise, engaging, and eye-catching.

- Keep it going. Offer your bot’s users options for engagement.

How to Make Chatbots More Engaging for Customers

Emilien Nizon has been lecturing at leading business schools in France and abroad for six years, some of which include KEDGE in Marseille, Audencia in Nantes, and Skema in Paris. He has also served as a consultant to help other educators improve student experience and satisfaction.

Nizon came up with the idea to implement a Messenger chatbot to act as a course companion for 2,000+ of his master’s program students. What began as a small experiment turned into a powerful tool that revolutionized student learning outcomes and satisfaction levels.

> “Conversational learning via bots represents an entirely new chapter in the evolution of how we educate young people.”

We’re excited to share Emilien’s chatbot use case to illustrate how bots can be used for more than just business applications. Here’s his story.

## Where did you get the idea to incorporate technology into your classes?

I built my career as a product manager, working in diverse industries from music streaming to e-commerce and travel. For the past six years, however, I’ve been a university lecturer at leading business schools here in France and abroad. I also do consulting work with educators to help improve student experience and satisfaction, a topic I’m highly passionate about.

I’ve had thousands of students pass through my classes over the last several years, and my aim is always to find ways to better facilitate their learning. Over time, I began to notice that the more interactive I made my classes, the more my students would enjoy and absorb the material. I suspected that incorporating technology was the way forward with this, so I decided to run an experiment. I donned my product-manager hat and planned an A/B test to quantify my observation and see where it led.

I kept a normal classroom environment with the control group of students, allowing them to participate by raising their hand or taking quizzes on paper at the end of a lecture. With the test group of students, however, I encouraged the use of a mobile service to ask questions and take the quizzes instead. It was a simple test, but the results clearly showed that both satisfaction and participation levels were higher in the test group. I knew I was on to something—so that’s when I decided to [build a bot and to name it](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-names) Ed.

## What is Ed, and how does it work?

I knew I wanted to make my classes more interactive and impactful using technology, and chatbots had appeared on my radar as a potential way to do that. I didn’t know of anyone who was already using a bot as a teaching tool, so I decided to try creating one myself. In March 2017, I set out to build the first version of Ed, a chatbot designed to act as an aid and course companion for my students.

Drawing from my past experience as a product manager, I first built an MVP (minimum viable product) version of Ed as test. It was only able to recognize a few basic words, and it offered just two main functions.

1. **Live chat.** First, Ed allowed students to chat with me directly thanks to the [Live Chat plugin](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat). I found this feature particularly handy for communicating with shy students who may not have approached me otherwise.

2. **Presentation feedback.** I also equipped the bot to share my feedback on each student’s final presentation, so they could access it quickly and easily within Messenger.

Then in January 2018, I introduced a new, 18-hour program called *User Research* at SKEMA in France. I saw the opportunity to push my simple bot further—to integrate it into the coursework and to introduce two more features:

1. **Class resources.** One additional feature I implemented was to have the chatbot share documents and articles referenced in class, so students could access them any time. I used the [Set Up AI tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/828883-keywords) in Chatfuel (which now lives under the *Automation* tab) to allow students to enter keywords and receive relevant resources in return.

2. **Push notifications.** Using the [Re-engage tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/955973-re-engage-tab) in Chatfuel, I created inspirational messages (“Today is presentation day—good luck!”), instructions and reminders (“Don’t forget: log into your course portal to submit your assignment by midnight”), or alerts (“Your presentation feedback is ready! Tap to view.”)

## How did you measure if the updated version of Ed was a success or not?

A few months after releasing the new version of Ed, the product manager in me knew I needed to gather data to decide whether it was helping or hindering my students. Did they all have Messenger, so they could access the bot in the first place? Were they actually using Ed and finding it beneficial, or was it seen as a cumbersome and unhelpful add-on?

My personal experiences with bots as a user in the past were often disappointing, as they generally seemed to add more complexity to a task, not less. I wanted to make sure Ed wasn’t causing this same issue for students.

Though my students seemed to be benefiting from the bot, I wanted hard data to know for sure. To gauge whether Ed was making an impact, and whether it was worth further development, I sent out the following questions in a web survey:

- *How satisfied were you with Ed, the educational chatbot?*

- *Did you find that interacting with Ed during class improved your educational experience?*

- *Would you appreciate seeing chatbots used in more classes?*

I released a link to this simple survey to everyone who had experienced Ed so far—over 1,200 international students from various business schools where I lectured. The results came in quickly, and they were astounding.

## How did students rate their experience with Ed?

Within a few hours, 737 students responded to the survey—and the results were overwhelmingly positive! 99% of respondents declared being satisfied with Ed, and 62% of those reported being “very satisfied.”

Nearly 90% of students said they found that interacting with Ed improved their educational experience. Most interestingly, an incredible 98% shared that they’d like to see chatbots used in more classes, with 63% of those expressing interest in having chatbots incorporated into *all* of their classes.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1/xs_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1/sm_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1/md_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1/lg_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1/xl_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1.webp 1223w" width="1223" height="266" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1/original_chatbots_for_universities_1_a7655fc8c1.webp" alt="Chatbot survey results"><figcaption>The results from the survey I sent about Ed's effectiveness</figcaption></figure>

> *“Nearly 90% of students said they found that interacting with Ed improved their educational experience. Most incredibly, 98% shared that they’d like to see chatbots used in more classes \[…\]”*

The students’ responses proved that Ed was a worthwhile project, and [the data gathered about it](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/838404-tracking-performance) from Chatfuel did too. When students were given the option for in-class participation via bot, the interactivity rate was almost 100%. Plus, 100% of messages Ed sent to students at any time were read, and 90% of those were viewed within one hour. The data showed me that messages from a bot promote astronomically higher rates of interaction and engagement, especially when compared to traditional, tech-free lectures or email messages.

> “*Plus, 100% of messages Ed sent to students at any time were read, and 90% within one hour.”*

## How else has Ed impacted you and your students?

Chatbots are a new and exciting type of technology, and they spark the curiosity of my students. The fact they can receive helpful information instantly with a few taps allows them to become more engaged, active participants in their education, rather than passively reading static emails or listening to lectures without taking part. Thanks to Ed, our classroom sessions have become more dynamic and the students’ final presentations have even improved in quality. So not only are my students enjoying their educational experience more with the bot, but they’re getting more out of it, too.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef/xs_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef/sm_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef/md_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef/lg_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef/xl_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef.webp 2840w" width="3777" height="2391" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef/original_chatbots_for_universities_2_fd7eb4c0ef.webp" alt="Students enjoy improved learning outcomes with technology"><figcaption>My students have enjoyed vastly improved learning outcomes thanks to technology in the classroom.</figcaption></figure>

It isn’t just my students who benefit from Ed, either; after its implementation, I found that I spent less time answering student emails. They began submitting their questions through the bot instead, which allowed me to answer more quickly and from anywhere — if needed.

Overall, I’ve been able to see a measurable impact on student satisfaction rates and educational outcomes, which are my key metrics. Because of Ed, students are now more involved, and have an easier time comprehending course content. As a result, they’re able to apply the concepts they’ve learned more successfully, and they report higher levels of course satisfaction too. They’re getting more out of their education and they realize it, which has always been my central goal as a lecturer.

> *“Overall, I’ve been able to see a measurable impact on student satisfaction rates and educational outcomes, which are my key metrics.”*

Now, students in my classes get to know Ed just as they get to know me! Within the first ten minutes of the very first class, I introduce them to Ed and explain how it functions as a constantly available course companion. I also guide them through the steps to add Ed to Messenger, as many of them have never added a chatbot there. The process is seamless, and it allows me to set my students up for success immediately.

## Why did you choose Chatfuel to build your bot?

When I set out to build the first version of Ed, I had benchmarked a few different chatbot solutions. Chatfuel, however, immediately stood out as the most reliable and fully loaded. Testing it out and seeing that I could have a functioning bot in five minutes was what really won me over.

My priorities in searching for the right bot-building platform were stability and a great end-user experience, and Chatfuel delivered on both. Testing the first version of Ed live in class after just a few clicks was easy for me and exciting for my students. That’s when I knew Chatfuel was the right choice for this project. The fact that I can make changes to my bot in Chatfuel and deploy them instantly is important to me too. I can adapt quickly and modify the bot experience on the fly, which allows me to constantly iterate and improve the chatbot for my students.

> “*Testing \[Chatfuel\] out and seeing that I could have a functioning bot in five minutes was what really won me over.”*

## Which Chatfuel features have been most important to Ed’s success?

User attributes is probably the feature that’s been most crucial. These customizable tags let me provide the right content to students at the right time. For example, I can set up an attribute for which school a user attends and which program they’re in.

I also use attributes to reflect a student’s progress in the course. That way, they’re able to “unlock” content as they move forward, which game-ifies the experience to make it even more engaging. Essentially, this feature allows me to easily categorize thousands of students based on their inputs, and have Ed follow up with the appropriate actions. I also look forward to using Ed as a research tool in the future. I’ve been experimenting with the [Google Sheets integration](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/2708726-export-data-from-chatfuel-to-google-sheets), and plan to use it to aggregate and analyze student responses. It’s just another way Ed will help me learn more about my students’ needs so I can provide an even more personalized and effective learning experience for them.

## Have you worked with any other educational bots?

I firmly believe that interactivity is key to positive educational outcomes. The world is changing, technology is expanding, and educators now have so many new tools to improve and update the way we teach. I’ve yet to come across others putting chatbots to use in the classroom, which is exactly why I’ve started consulting with schools and educators—to help them push the student experience further.

## What’s next for your work with Ed?

In addition to the consulting work I do, I’ve also begun sharing my knowledge about bots in a different way. Not only do I provide Ed as a tool for my students to use, but I now teach them how to harness this type of technology themselves, too. A common theme in my coursework is breaking the perception that something is “too hard” or “too different” for students to learn, and I start with my own experiences as a product manager turned lecturer to illustrate this.

> “*Not only do I provide Ed as a tool for my students to use, but I now teach them how to harness this type of technology themselves too.”*

I like to integrate chatbot building into the coursework itself to show students that they can create bots, too. Not only are they interested in the process, but it gives them an instant confidence boost. Some even go on to make their own bots in the future. I’m proud to be able to demystify this new technology, and show them how much they can do with the right tools.

The potential for even more educational applications of chatbots is thrilling to me. I’ve seen incredible results with Ed so far, and I look forward to creating even more positive outcomes with bots for my students in the future. Conversational learning via bots represents an entirely new chapter in the evolution of how we educate young people. I can’t wait to experiment more with chatbots, and help other educators begin to do the same.

University lecturer accelerated student learning with a bot

Most startups go through growing pains in the early stages, such as team management, overall performance, and communication. [Beauty Player](https://www.facebook.com/beautyplayermask) is no exception. As they picked up and implemented a successful product line in 2017, they had inquiries and orders flooding in from around the world. While the team was thrilled at the positive response to their brand and products, they found they couldn’t address all customer needs fast enough.

This article shows the journey that brought the Beauty Player to impressing metrics. The team built customer support, reduced cost per conversation by more than half, increased sales by 40% and achieved 10x return on ad spend (ROAS).

## The overworked team struggles to fulfill orders in time and loses customers

Beauty Player is a Taiwan-based cosmetics startup. Its mission is to help customers enhance their skin’s natural beauty. Beauty Player’s most popular product line is a facial mask collection. There are masks for all skin types and multiple functions: refreshing, cleansing, and firming. The brand helps people of all skin types restore a healthy glow and build confidence.

Beauty Player was overwhelmed with messages and struggled to answer questions and fulfill orders on time. As a result, the team became overworked, and the company lost out on the opportunity to serve even more customers because they didn’t have enough resources. In addition, the cost per conversation was growing since the team had to process all messages manually. Beauty Player managers realized that they had to find an affordable solution and, if possible, reach multiple goals at the same time. The team aimed to automate answering FAQs and increase client loyalty and sales.

## A Messenger chatbot automates FAQs and increases sales

To organize and streamline their customer communication, Beauty Player enlisted the help of a chatbot marketing agency called GoSky AI. This agency decided to build a Messenger bot in Chatfuel mainly to [automate FAQs](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-for-customer-service) about shipping, discounts, affiliate opportunities, and other popular topics. That way, the Beauty Player team would have more time for other tasks that need human attention.

> “Chatfuel helps Beauty Player solve the problem of not having customer support 24/7,” — Fash Chang, Marketing Director at GoSky AI

The other Beauty Player chatbot’s essential function is to increase brand awareness and sales through interactive education and product recommendations. First, the bot asks users whether their skin is dry, oily, or sensitive. Depending on the response, it then shares relevant skin care tips. It recommends a suitable facial mask (plus a coupon code) from their product line.

## The four-step strategy and the five powerful features

Knowing Beauty Player’s pains and goals, GoSky AI offered them a simple, yet a brilliant strategy that involved four key steps:

1. Facebook ads lead users to the Beauty Player bot.
2. The bot offers users a personalized product recommendation plus a coupon code based on their input.
3. Human agents match users who redeemed the coupon to those who purchased a mask on their website.
4. The team then exported matching leads (those who were deemed most likely to purchase) from the Chatfuel People tab. Then, they used that list to create a Lookalike audience to run more effective Facebook ads.

Then the GoSky AI agency built a powerful automation, using the following Chatfuel features and integrations:

### 1\. User attributes

This feature enables the Beauty Player chatbot to greet users by their first name for an added touch of personalization. The bot asks users about their skin type and offers quick reply buttons to choose from dry, oily, sensitive, etc. Automation saves user choices to [user attributes](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5573554-attributes) to segment users based on their skin type for later use in retargeting campaigns.

### 2\. Facebook Ads integration

Beauty Player also benefited from the combination of Facebook’s powerful data targeting and Chatfuel’s rich set of customizable tools. Connecting Facebook Ads to Chatfuel Entry Points is easy. There’s no need to decipher confusing code. For this case, [Click-to-Messenger Ads or Sponsored Messages](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5573673-difference-between-facebook-ads-click-to-message-and-sponsored-message) were just right.

### 3\. People tab

From the Chatfuel [People tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575151-people-tab), the Beauty Player team can easily export a CSV file of bot users who placed an order on their website. Next, they can send this customer data to Facebook Ads Manager using Segment Sync to create a Lookalike Audience of their most valuable customers. Finally, Facebook uses that information to find new leads with similar characteristics to existing customers. As a result, Beauty Player experienced a significant decrease in cost per conversion and an impressive increase in ROAS.

### 4\. JSON API

Beauty Player uses the [JSON API](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/735122-json-api) to gain insights about when users are interacting with the bot. As a result, they can reengage those recently dropped off and retarget those who haven’t redeemed their soon-to-expire coupons.

### 5\. AI tab

Most users typed in something like “My skin is dry/oily/sensitive” when messaging Beauty Player. Knowing that the GoSky team *taught* the bot to react to specific [keywords](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/828883-keywords) in the AI tab. An AI integration allows the bot to understand this request and send an appropriate response. So now, users who type a similar word at any point in the chat get a personalized selection of recommended products and skin-care tips.

## A top-level digital marketing strategy brings incredible results

Using the five Chatfuel tools above, GoSky AI revolutionized Beauty Player’s business. Automation helped them grow brand awareness and revenue and reduce costs. As a result, the team now enjoys less stressful and more streamlined operations. After launching their bot, Beauty Player got impressive results:

- 40% ($250,000) higher monthly sales. Automation helped them control the orders and messages they were already getting and increased sales overall.
- 50% less cost per conversion. With [click-to-Messenger ad campaigns](https://chatfuel.com/blog/create-click-to-messenger-ads-to-drive-traffic-to-your-bot), the Beauty Player team reduced it by more than half, from $8.30 to $4.06.
