AI agents are ready-to-use employees designed to help you boost sales and rapidly expand teams. They are not your typical bots—agents can fulfill complete roles instead of just automating functions.

Each agent performs specific business roles:

1. **First-line support agent**

2. **SDR for lead qualification**

3. **E-commerce sales associate**

4. **Pre-sales manager for the education sector**

Consider AI agents as your junior employees who, if trained properly, can become your top performers. To train an agent, provide it with the context of your business and clients.

Product update: meet AI agents

In this article, we’ll show you how to increase eCommerce sales for your store by using sales automation with Chatfuel and ChatGPT.

We’ll show you how to leverage WhatsApp for your business with a step-by-step guide on how to set it all up. The goal is to get you prepared for an influx of customers, making sure that you maximize your sales while reducing the workload on your team at the same time.

Let’s get started.

## The setup guide

### 1\. Connect your WhatsApp number to Chatfuel

To do this, you will first need to [**log in to your Chatfuel account**](https://dashboard.chatfuel.com/sign-up?utm_medium=chatfuel&utm_source=blog&utm_campaign=automate-sales-ChatGPT).

We strongly recommend using a new number for the WhatsApp + Chatfuel integration. This is because a phone number connected to Chatfuel can’t be already in use in other WhatsApp Business accounts, the WhatsApp application, or with the WhatsApp Business application.

1. Once you’re in your dashboard, go to the ‘Home’ section from the left-side menu.

2. Scroll down to the WhatsApp Business section and click on ‘Connect.’

This is what we call an ‘Entry Point’ at Chatfuel. It’s the way that users enter your flow. Or, in your case, how users enter the ChatGPT-powered template you duplicated above. Follow the steps below for this final stage of the setup.

1. Click on the WhatsApp entry point in your template.

2. Open the settings by clicking on the content in the block.

In the top left corner, copy the code, which you can paste into your website’s HTML.

Leverage WhatsApp for your business with a step-by-step guide. In this article, we’ll show you how to increase eCommerce sales for your store by using sales.

Chatfuel + ChatGPT: Automate eCommerce WhatsApp

In 2022, Chatfuel was among the first chatbot platforms to integrate with ChatGPT. Since then, you have created thousands of AI chatbots for various tasks. Through analyzing your usage of these bots, we have identified areas where AI excels and where it falls short. Most importantly, we have gained insights into the scenarios where you can maximize the benefits of AI for your businesses.

With this knowledge in mind, we have developed four AI agents. Now, instead of just automating specific functions with chatbots, you can outsource entire roles to AI agents. They will provide maximum value to businesses that actively use messengers for selling and communicating with customers, but they can also be adapted to other use cases.

Read on to learn what is an AI agent and how you can use them to boost your business.

## AI agents explained

An AI agent is an autonomous AI system that can automate entire roles from start to finish. It can serve as an extension of your current team, capable of performing numerous tasks with minimal human intervention, or as a \*\*\*\*whole AI sales department. Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant are popular examples of intelligent agents in AI. While they are typically used by individuals, the introduction of specialized agents tailored for business purposes is revolutionizing the landscape.

With AI agents, businesses can grow quickly by efficiently handling more customer queries, suggesting products based on customer preferences, and providing proactive support.

### How does an AI agent work?

These are the general steps that an AI agent takes to achieve a goal.

When you input your goal, the AI agent starts the goal initialization process. It sends your prompt to the core large language model and receives the first output, indicating its understanding of the task.

Next, the agent creates a set of tasks and prioritizes their execution depending on the goal. Once it determines a feasible plan, it begins searching for information.

Using a computer like humans do, AI agent gathers information from the internet. Some agents can connect with other AI models to delegate tasks and access features for processing geographical data or computer vision.

As tasks are completed, the agent assesses its progress. For this, it gathers feedback from external sources and its internal monologue. The agent keeps iterating, creating more tasks, gathering information and feedback, until it achieves the goal.

The agent stores and manages all the data so that it can relay it back to you when needed. It also uses the data to improve its performance over time.

### Why employ AI agents?

- **Easy access to AI-driven automation**

Messengers are one of the most effective channels for e-commerce businesses. However, building efficient chatbots can often be challenging. With Chatfuel agents, you can instantly incorporate AI into your operations and easily scale your business.

- **Immediate boost to productivity**

Hiring and onboarding new employees takes time, creating a gap between recognizing the need to strengthen the team and actually doing it. Hiring an AI agent, you get a new employee in a few clicks, ready to perform from day one.

- **Cutting costs**

AI agents don’t require salary, insurance, paid vacations, or sick leave. They can work round the clock, seven days a week, without breaks, vacations, or days off.

## Meet your full-fledged AI sales department

Four out-of-the-box AI agents are now at your disposal. Each is tailored for specific use cases and handles multiple tasks, ultimately delivering the desired outcome.

You can add them to your existing flows or build new ones. Depending on your needs, you can use a specific agent or mix a few in different combinations. The best part is that you can get your AI agents up and running in a matter of minutes. No need for writing prompts, simply fill in the necessary information, and you're good to go.

Think of these agents as your junior AI employees who can become your top performers with proper training and fine-tuning. To teach them effectively, provide them with the context of your business and clients.

So, meet your autonomous AI sales department.

### 1\. First-line support agent

This AI support agent answers frequently asked questions in a human-like manner. It understands inquiries and provides helpful responses and can handle questions about products, orders, shipping, and returns. You can also train your AI support agent to handle basic troubleshooting and technical support queries.

### 2\. SDR for lead qualification

An SDR (sales development representative) agent efficiently identifies and prioritizes potential leads. It analyzes incoming leads based on specified parameters to assess their suitability for further engagement. The agent then filters out irrelevant leads and qualifies the target ones to transfer them to your sales team. With this AI agent, your sales team can focus on leads with the highest potential, increasing the efficiency of their sales pipeline.

### 3\. E-commerce sales associate

This agent assists customers throughout the entire order process, from selecting products to completing payments. It can recommend relevant items based on customer preferences and previous interactions, as well as promote special offers. Employ an AI sales associate agent to drive upselling and cross-selling.

### 4\. Pre-sales manager

This agent is made for education businesses to help potential leads schedule meetings with sales managers.

### 1\. What sparked your interest in chatbots? Can you share a specific moment or event?

I believe that the initial bot platform for messengers, or at least the first major official bot API, was developed by Telegram in 2015. At that time, I was a volunteer at Telegram Support Force and closely monitored the development of various emerging bots, which always intrigued me due to the wide range of possibilities they offered, from day-to-day assistance to the creation of large-scale platforms. This also included Chatfuel for Telegram at the time.

### 2\. What are the key principles that you believe are crucial for successful interaction with users?

Always being one step ahead and providing additional context, even if not asked, is a valuable trait. As a support person who has engaged with thousands of users over the years, you have the ability to offer more suggestions beyond simply addressing their initial questions. There are instances where a user may inquire about their connection not working, and upon investigating the issue, you may identify small adjustments that could enhance their overall setup. It is truly rewarding to not only assist with their immediate inquiries but also contribute to their company's progress in a positive direction.

### 3\. When encountering complex user scenarios where standard solutions are ineffective, how do you find alternative solutions?

At times, we may encounter limitations in addressing certain Meta-specific questions or issues. In such instances, it’s crucial to refrain from assigning blame or deflecting responsibility. Instead, the focus should be on offering specific workarounds that may be applicable to their particular situation. Taking additional steps to demonstrate a willingness to assist the user to the best of our ability is also essential.

### 4\. Regarding AI and chatbots, which tools and technologies do you find most promising? How do you use them in your work and how do they improve your workflow and user interactions?

There are several excellent tools available that can assist in enhancing your responses. One such tool is our internal feature located in Chatfuel's Live Chat tab, which utilizes AI to "correct spelling and grammar" and adjust the message's tone to be more friendly or formal. These tools are valuable resources that we frequently utilize in our daily tasks, particularly when communicating with users through a translator.

### 5\. How do you interpret and apply corporate values in your daily work?

It’s always important to think creatively and foster a spirit of innovation. Understanding market trends and user needs is crucial for our Support team. Keeping up-to-date on market changes and learning how to adapt to them is essential for providing exceptional user assistance. These values are integral to our Support team.

### 6\. How do you successfully replenish and maintain resources within a demanding schedule, including hobbies and passions? How do you manage your work-life balance?

Remember to find a good balance between work and personal time. Prioritize your tasks and mix in a big demanding task with some smaller ones to avoid feeling overwhelmed. A well-planned schedule will help you feel accomplished and productive, giving you a positive mindset.

When it comes to hobbies, I have so many that it’s hard to count! I enjoy football, video games, movies, music... I also love studying different language structures to understand how they work and learning about other cultures. I believe my hobbies are harder to schedule and prioritize than my day-to-day work because I want to do so many things, it’s hard to manage. Right now, I’m trying to avoid the feeling of completion and the “fear of missing out” and just do them when I feel like it.

### 7\. Are there areas where the company could provide support to help you find a better work-life balance?

Chatfuel is the company that has taught me the most about work-life balance. In Brazil, where I'm from, there is a culture of overworking, especially in IT areas. There is a prevailing belief that if you don't overwork, you're not working enough. It was a shock to me how the culture at Chatfuel changed my perspective on how dangerous this mindset is, not only for your health but also for your personal life. In the Support team, more specifically, we have a great culture where each teammate always checks up on others to see if they need any additional help or if they need some time off. I feel like I am in paradise right now, knowing that I can count on my teammates if I need anything, and vice versa. It is a great spirit that I highly value!

### 8\. What stands out the most to you about our company? Is there a specific aspect that you find uniquely appealing or distinctive?

The employees are extremely friendly and interactive, not only in the context of professional tasks and projects but also in social activities and efforts to encourage better acquaintance. Despite the physical distance, everyone is ready to ensure your ease and confidence in your position.

### 9\. What aspects of our corporate culture inspire and motivate you?

The same spirit I previously mentioned is the sense of community. Despite having a diverse team working across different time zones around the world, I feel a strong sense of closeness with everyone. I am confident that I can always seek assistance when needed, and I am equally willing to support my teammates. I have never felt burdened by this dynamic. On the contrary, it seems that everyone is striving to achieve the best results together while respecting each other's culture, time zone disparities, and, most importantly, work-life balance.

### 10\. In your view, what sets our company apart from other workplaces?

Respect for employees' boundaries as a priority. Chatfuel offers a variety of optional activities, ensuring that no one is compelled to participate in anything they are not comfortable with.

The high value of your work-life balance. There is no pressure to be constantly available online or to immediately attend to messages on our internal messenger platform.

And last but not least, great importance on respecting diverse cultures across the team. Chatfuel comprises individuals from various countries, and I have always felt welcomed and accepted. Everyone is genuinely interested in learning about different cultures and embracing our cultural differences.

### 11\. What recommendations would you offer to new employees to facilitate a smoother integration into our corporate environment?

Be receptive to diverse cultures, participate in company-wide activities. Do not hesitate to express your opinions or inquire, as others will be always willing to assist you or appreciate your insights. Strive to excel in your professional endeavors while also honoring your personal life and well-being.

That's a wrap on our chat with Edgar, but we have more interviews lined up with other members of the Chatfuel team, each ready to share their unique insights and experiences. Stay tuned for the next episode of our interview series!

Chatfuel at its core: 7 values that form our DNA

With the mission to change the way businesses interact with their customers, Chatfuel was founded in Silicon Valley in 2015 by Dmitry Dumik and Artem Ptashnick, who also took the CEO’s role.

> “It’s exciting that you have to create a user experience that has never existed before, ‘shares Dmitry Dumik.

7 years later, Chatfuel is Meta’s official partner, and its software is directly integrated with Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and, recently, WhatsApp. Over 7 million customers, from small local businesses to large companies like Adidas, Netflix, Nissan, Visa, T-Mobile, LEGO, and many more, use Chatfuel.

Today we’re one of the largest platforms on Messenger, powering almost half of all bots in the ecosystem and providing customers with the fastest expert support.
