TikTok Automations
Automations control where Fuely AI talks to your customers on TikTok and how it behaves in each place.

Automations control where Fuely AI talks to your customers on TikTok and how it behaves in each place. (If you're looking for what used to be called TikTok tasks — they became automations.)
TikTok has three sources, each with its own automation:
- Direct messages — Fuely AI answers people who DM your account.
- Comments — Fuely AI replies publicly under comments on your videos.
- Ads that click to TikTok — Fuely AI picks up conversations that start from your TikTok ads.
Each source has a base automation, and every base starts off — turning AI on for a source means enabling its automation. Want AI in DMs but not under comments? Enable one and leave the other off.
Set it up in Automations
- Go to Fuely AI → Automations.
- Under TikTok, open the source you want — direct messages, comments, or ads.
- Turn the automation on. Use Additional instructions to tell Fuely AI how to talk: your tone, your goal (drive DMs, answer questions, share links), examples of good replies.
- Test it in the Test chat sidebar, or send a real DM and leave a comment on one of your videos.
Or ask the AI Co-Worker
Tell it what you want in chat:
"Turn on AI for my TikTok DMs and reply to comments under my videos"
It applies the change and confirms what it set.
Custom automations for comments and ads
On the comments and ads sources you can add custom automations — named rules triggered by keywords, so specific words get a specific response while the base automation handles everything else. A comment rule's answer is its Public reply, posted under the comment.
Note: TikTok comment automations have a Public reply only. Unlike Instagram and Facebook, there is no private-reply setting, because TikTok doesn't allow sending a DM based on a comment.
When several rules could answer the same comment, a priority order decides which one replies.
Managing your chats
When someone comments, you'll see your public reply in the Chats tab, so all your TikTok interactions stay in one place.
Contact properties
Contacts created from TikTok automations include properties that show where they came from:
| Contact action | Value in the Original source / Last source property |
|---|---|
| Messages in TikTok direct | TikTok direct |
| Comments from videos | TikTok comment |
Important notes
Here are some restrictions that might affect how your automations work.
Messaging limits
TikTok has strict messaging rules that differ from other platforms:
- Comments only — you cannot DM someone based on their comment alone; they must message you first.
- 48-hour window — once someone DMs you, you have 48 hours to send up to 10 messages.
- Window resets — the 48-hour timer restarts each time they reply to you.
Regional restrictions
US TikTok accounts cannot connect to Chatfuel, and EU contacts won't appear in your dashboard.
