Overview

A broadcast list lets you send a message to multiple contacts at once, even if their 24-hour messaging window has expired. Because these messages are sent outside the conversation window, they use pre-approved WhatsApp templates and require a connected payment method.

How to Create a Broadcast List

  1. Open the Broadcasts tab in the main menu.
  2. Click Create re-engage.
  3. Choose a WhatsApp template — this is the message your contacts will receive. Templates must be pre-approved by Meta before they can be used.
  4. Connect a payment method — broadcast messages are template messages, and Meta charges per message sent. Make sure your payment method is active in your billing settings.
  5. Choose your audience — select which contacts should receive the message. You can target specific segments or your full contact list.
  6. Choose when to send — schedule the message for a specific date and time, or send it immediately.

Good to Know

  • Broadcast list = re-engage — in Chatfuel, broadcast lists are created through the Re-engage feature. The steps above walk you through exactly that.
  • Template approval — WhatsApp templates need to be approved by Meta before you can use them. This can take a few minutes to a few hours.
  • Delivery issues — if your broadcast messages aren't being delivered, check Problems with sending messages on WhatsApp for troubleshooting steps.
  • Re-engages vs. follow-ups — broadcast lists target contacts whose messaging window has closed. If you want to nudge contacts who stopped responding during an active conversation, use follow-ups instead.
