How to Set Up Follow-Ups

Fuely AI can automatically send follow-up messages to clients who haven't responded.

Last updated on

Fuely AI can automatically send follow-up messages to clients who haven't responded. This keeps conversations moving without you having to remember to check back manually.

Follow-ups are a setting on each automation: enable them everywhere at once on Main bot, or only for some sources — say, Instagram DMs but not comments. You can also adjust the follow-up message prompt per automation, so ad leads and regular DMs get nudged differently.

Set it up in Automations

  1. Go to Fuely AIAutomations.
  2. Open the automation for the channel or post you want (or Main bot to change it everywhere).
  3. Open the Follow-ups setting and turn it on.
  4. Optionally, edit the follow-up message prompt to shape what the reminder says.

Like every automation setting, Follow-ups is inherited from Main bot unless you override it — so a source you don't touch keeps following Main bot's behavior.

Once enabled, Fuely AI will automatically follow up with clients who stop responding, helping you re-engage leads and close more conversations. To reach contacts whose messaging window has already closed, use re-engage messages instead.

Or ask the AI Co-Worker

Tell it what you want in chat:

"Turn on follow-ups for clients who stop responding — but only in Instagram DMs."

It applies the change and confirms what it set.

When Follow-Ups Are Sent

Follow-ups are triggered when a client goes quiet after an active conversation. Fuely AI waits a set period before sending a reminder message to nudge the client back into the conversation.

Important Notes

  • Works across channels — follow-ups apply to conversations on any connected messaging platform.
  • Respects messaging limits — Fuely AI won't send follow-ups outside of allowed messaging windows. On WhatsApp, for example, follow-ups must fall within the 24-hour messaging window.
  • Human takeover — agents can stop AI and take over the conversation at any time, including during follow-up sequences.
