Why the AI Co-Worker Can't Edit Flows

If you asked the AI Co-Worker to set something up and it told you it can't do it inside a flow — that's expected.

If you asked the AI Co-Worker to set something up and it told you it can't do it inside a flow — that's expected. The Co-Worker works with automations, not with the flow builder.

Automations vs. Flows

Chatfuel has two ways to automate conversations:

  • Automations — the current approach. Fuely AI holds the conversation on its own, guided by your settings per channel, post, or ad. You manage automations in the dashboard at Fuely AIAutomations, or by describing what you need to the Co-Worker — both work the same. This covers sales, support, appointment booking, follow-ups, comment replies, and more.
  • Flows — the legacy approach where you manually build conversation paths by connecting blocks. The Co-Worker cannot create or modify flows.

What to do instead

Instead of asking the Co-Worker to change a flow, describe the outcome you want. For example:

  • Instead of "Add a block to my flow that asks for the customer's phone number" — say "I want the AI to collect the customer's phone number before booking."
  • Instead of "Edit my welcome flow" — say "I want to change how the AI greets new customers."

The Co-Worker will set this up as an automation, which handles the conversation dynamically without a fixed script — and you can review or adjust the result yourself in Fuely AIAutomations.

What if you still need flows

If you have an existing flow that you need to keep using, you can access it through the flow editor manually. But for most use cases, automations replace flows entirely and are faster to set up and maintain.

If you're unsure whether your use case needs a flow or an automation, just describe what you want to the Co-Worker — it will guide you to the right approach.
