To switch to a different WhatsApp number in Chatfuel, disconnect your current number first, then connect the new one.
Connecting the new number is one of the few steps the AI Co-Worker can't complete for you — it requires authorizing with Meta in your own account. The Co-Worker can take you straight to the connection page: just ask. Disconnecting the old number works both ways — in Settings or through the Co-Worker.
Set it up in Settings
Step 1: Disconnect your current number
- Open Settings in the left sidebar.
- Find your current number in the WhatsApp section.
- Click Disconnect next to the number you want to remove.
- Confirm the disconnection when prompted.
Step 2: Connect your new number
Once the old number is disconnected, connect your new phone number following the standard setup process. If you're migrating a number already in use with the WhatsApp Business App, follow the WhatsApp Business App connection guide instead.
After connecting, activate AI on your new WhatsApp channel to resume automation.
Or ask the AI Co-Worker
Tell it what you want in chat:
"Disconnect my current WhatsApp number."
It applies the change and confirms what it set. Then connect the new number yourself following Step 2 above.
If you run into issues during the process, see the troubleshooting guide for phone connection issues.
