# What Is the Chatfuel MCP Server?

The Chatfuel MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI assistants set up and run your Fuely AI agent on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

The Chatfuel MCP server connects your Chatfuel account to the AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Meta Muse. You add one link to the assistant, sign in with Chatfuel, and then set up and run your Fuely AI agent on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and web chat by writing requests in your own words.

## What is MCP? [#what-is-mcp]

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside tools and data. You add a server link to the assistant once. The assistant then discovers what the server can do and carries out those actions for you. The Chatfuel MCP server works with your own Chatfuel permissions, and you can revoke its access at any time.

## Which link do I add? [#which-link-do-i-add]

Chatfuel has two server links:

* `https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel` (**MCP**) gives the assistant ready-made tools for bots, Automations, the Knowledge Base, comment replies, chats and bookings. Use it in Claude, ChatGPT, Muse and for everyday account work in any assistant.
* `https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel/api` (**API MCP**) gives coding agents the whole Chatfuel GraphQL API. The assistant searches the schema and runs any query or mutation your account allows.

The differences, including features that only the developer link has, are in [MCP or API MCP: which Chatfuel link to use](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/which-chatfuel-mcp-link-to-use).

## What can the assistant do in Chatfuel? [#what-can-the-assistant-do-in-chatfuel]

With the Chatfuel MCP server, the assistant can:

* List your bots, their channels and plans, and report how each bot is doing.
* Turn on Fuely AI for the channels you pick, and turn single [automations](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/automations) on or off.
* Fill in the Knowledge Base: FAQ, company details, instructions and business hours.
* Change automation settings: when the AI replies, handoff to your team, follow-ups, contact collection and booking rules.
* Set up replies to comments on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
* Add bookable services and specialists.
* Review recent chats, reply to a customer after you approve the exact text, and hand a chat to your team or back to the AI.
* Test the bot's answer in a sandbox chat, and find out why the bot doesn't reply.
* Search Chatfuel help articles.

The full list is in [Chatfuel MCP tools and playbooks](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/chatfuel-mcp-tools), and ready-made requests are in [Chatfuel MCP example prompts](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/chatfuel-mcp-example-prompts).

## What can't the assistant do? [#what-cant-the-assistant-do]

The Chatfuel MCP server doesn't show or edit Flows, doesn't send broadcasts, and can't turn the AI off for all channels at once. It also can't delete bots or workspaces, manage teammates and roles, change your plan or payments, import or export contacts, or disconnect channels. Do those in the Chatfuel dashboard at panel.chatfuel.com.

## Do I need a paid plan? [#do-i-need-a-paid-plan]

Connecting the assistant and reading your account work on any account. Fuely AI replies to customers only while the workspace has a working plan and AI credits, as described in [Chatfuel plans and pricing](https://chatfuel.com/docs/billing/chatfuel-plans-and-pricing). Buying a plan doesn't turn automations on by itself: ask the assistant to turn on the AI for your channels.

## How do I connect my assistant? [#how-do-i-connect-my-assistant]

Each assistant has its own steps, collected in [how to connect Chatfuel to AI assistants with MCP](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/how-to-connect-chatfuel-to-ai-assistants-with-mcp). The product overview of the MCP server is on [chatfuel.com/mcp](https://chatfuel.com/mcp).

## Common issues [#common-issues]

### How is the MCP server different from the AI Co-Worker? [#how-is-the-mcp-server-different-from-the-ai-co-worker]

The [AI Co-Worker](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/what-the-ai-co-worker-can-do-for-you) is the assistant built into the Chatfuel dashboard. The MCP server lets you reach your Chatfuel account from an AI assistant outside Chatfuel, such as Claude or ChatGPT.

### Does the assistant change things without asking? [#does-the-assistant-change-things-without-asking]

The Chatfuel MCP server instructs the assistant to ask one yes/no question before a change that rewrites, removes or turns something off, and to get a yes to the exact text of every message it sends to a customer. Answers like "maybe" or "up to you" are not treated as a yes.

### Is there an MCP server for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger? [#is-there-an-mcp-server-for-whatsapp-instagram-and-messenger]

Yes. The Chatfuel MCP server works with the WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, TikTok and web chat channels connected to your Chatfuel bots.
