# How to Connect Claude Code to Chatfuel

Run claude mcp add --transport http chatfuel https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel, then /mcp to sign in. Add chatfuel-api with /panel/api for the full GraphQL API.

Claude Code connects to Chatfuel with one `claude mcp add` command and a sign-in through `/mcp`. You can add the everyday server for managing bots, the developer server with the full Chatfuel GraphQL API, or both under different names.

## How to add the Chatfuel server [#how-to-add-the-chatfuel-server]

1. Run this command in your terminal:

   ```
   claude mcp add --transport http chatfuel https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel
   ```

2. Start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, pick `chatfuel` and sign in to Chatfuel in the browser.

The `chatfuel` server gives Claude Code the ready-made Chatfuel tools for bots, Automations, the Knowledge Base, comment replies, chats and bookings.

## How to add the full Chatfuel API [#how-to-add-the-full-chatfuel-api]

For scripts, integrations and tasks the ready-made tools don't cover, add the developer server under its own name:

```
claude mcp add --transport http chatfuel-api https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel/api
```

Then run `/mcp`, pick `chatfuel-api` and sign in. The two servers are separate connections, so you sign in to each one you add. What the developer server adds is in [MCP or API MCP: which Chatfuel link to use](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/which-chatfuel-mcp-link-to-use).

## How to connect Claude Code with a CLI token [#how-to-connect-claude-code-with-a-cli-token]

Use a CLI token when Claude Code can't open the browser, for example on a remote machine or in CI. Pass the token in a header:

```
claude mcp add --transport http chatfuel-api https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel/api --header "Authorization: Bearer <token>"
```

Replace `<token>` with your Chatfuel CLI token. Anyone with the token can access your Chatfuel account, so keep it out of shared files and repositories. Where to create the token is in [Chatfuel MCP sign-in, read-only access and CLI token](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/mcp-sign-in-read-only-and-cli-token).

## What can I ask Claude Code? [#what-can-i-ask-claude-code]

Examples:

* *"Show me my bots and which ones have AI turned on."*
* *"Review my recent chats and list the questions the FAQ doesn't cover."*
* *"Write a script that lists my Qualified leads"* (with `chatfuel-api`).

More requests are in [Chatfuel MCP example prompts](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/chatfuel-mcp-example-prompts). For Claude on the web and in the desktop app, see [how to connect Claude to Chatfuel](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/connect-claude-to-chatfuel).

## Common issues [#common-issues]

### Claude Code shows the server as needing authentication [#claude-code-shows-the-server-as-needing-authentication]

Run `/mcp`, pick the Chatfuel server and sign in again. The sign-in may have expired or been revoked in **Connected apps** in the Chatfuel dashboard.

### Signing in to chatfuel didn't connect chatfuel-api [#signing-in-to-chatfuel-didnt-connect-chatfuel-api]

The two links are separate connections. Run `/mcp`, pick `chatfuel-api` and sign in to it as well.

### Can I connect chatfuel-api with read-only access? [#can-i-connect-chatfuel-api-with-read-only-access]

No. The developer link always works with full access, and its consent screen has no **Read-only** switch. For read-only access, use the `chatfuel` server with `https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel` and turn on **Read-only** when you sign in.
