# How to Connect ChatGPT to Chatfuel

Add https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT with OAuth, sign in to Chatfuel, then type @ and pick Chatfuel in a chat.

ChatGPT connects to Chatfuel as a custom MCP server. You add the Chatfuel server link once, sign in with your Chatfuel account, and then pick Chatfuel in a chat to manage your bots, Automations and Knowledge Base. On chatgpt.com, custom MCP servers are available on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu plans.

The server link is:

```
https://mcp.chatfuel.com/panel
```

## How to add Chatfuel on chatgpt.com [#how-to-add-chatfuel-on-chatgptcom]

1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins and click **+** → **Add custom MCP server**.
2. Enter the name Chatfuel and the server link, and choose **OAuth**.
3. Confirm the warning, click **Create as a plugin** and sign in to Chatfuel.

## How to use Chatfuel in a ChatGPT chat [#how-to-use-chatfuel-in-a-chatgpt-chat]

In a chat, type **@** and pick Chatfuel, then write your request, for example *"@Chatfuel show me my bots and which ones have AI turned on."*

## How to add Chatfuel in the ChatGPT desktop app [#how-to-add-chatfuel-in-the-chatgpt-desktop-app]

The ChatGPT desktop app for macOS and Windows has its own server list:

1. Open **Settings** → **MCP servers** and click **Add server**.
2. Enter the name Chatfuel, choose **Streamable HTTP**, paste the server link and save.
3. Click **Restart**, then **Authenticate** next to the server and sign in to Chatfuel.

The desktop app keeps the server in `~/.codex/config.toml`, which it shares with Codex CLI, so a server added in [Codex](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/connect-codex-to-chatfuel) also appears in the desktop app.

## What can I ask ChatGPT? [#what-can-i-ask-chatgpt]

ChatGPT can turn on Fuely AI, add FAQ entries, set up comment replies, add bookable services and review your chats. Examples:

* *"Set up an AI assistant for my bot that answers my customers' questions."*
* *"Make the AI reply to comments on my latest Instagram post."*
* *"Daily check: summarize yesterday's chats of my bot and list suggested fixes. Don't change anything."*

More requests are in [Chatfuel MCP example prompts](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/chatfuel-mcp-example-prompts). An overview of ChatGPT with Chatfuel is on [chatfuel.com/mcp/chatgpt](https://chatfuel.com/mcp/chatgpt).

## Will ChatGPT change things without asking? [#will-chatgpt-change-things-without-asking]

The Chatfuel MCP server instructs ChatGPT to ask one yes/no question before a change that rewrites, removes or turns something off, and to get a yes to the exact text of every message it sends to a customer. To let ChatGPT only look at your account, turn on **Read-only** on the Chatfuel consent screen, as described in [Chatfuel MCP sign-in, read-only access and CLI token](https://chatfuel.com/docs/mcp/mcp-sign-in-read-only-and-cli-token).

## Common issues [#common-issues]

### I don't see "Add custom MCP server" in ChatGPT [#i-dont-see-add-custom-mcp-server-in-chatgpt]

Custom MCP servers on chatgpt.com are available on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. On other plans, use the ChatGPT desktop app steps above or another assistant.

### ChatGPT doesn't use Chatfuel in my chat [#chatgpt-doesnt-use-chatfuel-in-my-chat]

Type **@** in the message box and pick Chatfuel before your request.

### ChatGPT asks me to sign in again [#chatgpt-asks-me-to-sign-in-again]

The Chatfuel sign-in has expired or was revoked in **Connected apps** in the Chatfuel dashboard. Sign in to Chatfuel again from the plugin or server settings.
