No. There is currently no way to clear, reset, or refresh the chat history with a contact in Chatfuel. The full conversation history is always preserved.

## Why it works this way [#why-it-works-this-way]

Chat history is part of the contact's record and is used by [Fuely AI](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/what-is-fuely-ai) to maintain context across conversations. Clearing it would break AI continuity and remove valuable sales context from your [Leads](https://chatfuel.com/docs/leads/leads) pipeline.

## What you can do instead [#what-you-can-do-instead]

* [Close the live chat](https://chatfuel.com/docs/leads/how-to-close-live-chat) to mark the conversation as finished and stop AI from responding. When the contact messages again, a new interaction begins — but previous history stays accessible.
* If you need to start fresh with a contact from AI's perspective, update the contact's lead stage or attributes rather than clearing the chat.
