# m.me Links and Ads that Click to Messenger

m.me links and ads that click to Messenger are two more Facebook sources, each with its own automation so the AI can greet and route them differently.

Besides Messenger DMs and comments, your Facebook Page gets conversations from two more places: **m.me links** you share anywhere, and **ads that click to Messenger** you run in Meta Ads Manager. Each is its own [automation](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/automations) source under **Facebook**, so leads from a link or an ad can get a different greeting than a regular DM. For the full picture, see [Facebook automations](https://chatfuel.com/docs/facebook/facebook-tasks).

## m.me links [#mme-links]

An m.me link opens a Messenger conversation with your Page in one tap: `m.me/YourPage`. Add a ref parameter — `m.me/YourPage?ref=spring-sale` — and Chatfuel knows which link the person came from.

The **m.me link** source has a base automation for every link, and up to 30 [custom automations](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/how-to-create-a-custom-automation) targeted by **Ref links** — the ref values you want a rule to react to, up to 20 per rule. Use a different ref on your website, in your email signature, and on a QR code at the counter, and each one can start a different conversation.

## Ads that click to Messenger [#ads-that-click-to-messenger]

Ads that click to Messenger open a Messenger conversation the moment someone taps the ad. Creating the ad itself happens in Meta Ads Manager — the same way as [ads that click to WhatsApp](https://chatfuel.com/docs/whatsapp/create-ads-that-click-to-whatsapp), with Messenger as the destination.

On the Chatfuel side, the **Ads that click to Messenger** source has a base automation for every ad and up to 30 custom automations targeted by a **List of ads** — paste the ad ID or the full Ads Manager URL — and optionally **keywords**. This source watches conversations that start from the ad; comments people leave on the ad are not a Facebook source.

> **Note:** Reporting conversions back to Meta from the conversation is available on ads that click to WhatsApp only.

## Set it up in Automations [#set-it-up-in-automations]

1. Go to **Fuely AI** → **Automations**.
2. Under **Facebook**, open **m.me link** or **Ads that click to Messenger**.
3. Turn on the base automation to handle every link or ad, or add a custom automation and set its [ref links or list of ads](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/how-to-set-up-automation-for-specific-posts-or-ads).
4. Adjust **Additional instructions** for the greeting and goal you want for these leads.
5. Try it in the [Test chat](https://chatfuel.com/docs/ai-features/how-to-test-your-automation) sidebar before going live.

## Or ask the AI Co-Worker [#or-ask-the-ai-co-worker]

Tell it what you want in chat:

*"For people who come from this ad — \[paste the Ads Manager link] — greet them with the summer offer and ask for their phone number."*

It applies the change and confirms what it set.

## Messaging limits [#messaging-limits]

A conversation from a link or an ad is a normal Messenger conversation: the [24-hour window](https://chatfuel.com/docs/facebook/messaging-rules-for-facebook) starts with the person's first message.
